Briefly describe yourself?
My name is
Mugesera Mark. A first-year Law student at Islamic University In Uganda-
Kampala Campus, and I’m 20 years old. I am a diligent person, and I listen to a
lot of music.
Why did you choose to offer a Law degree?
On why I chose to offer a Law degree, I have never thought of studying anything else.
I realized
sciences were hard for me, and I liked reading. Law was then the perfect choice, and I am glad that I’m doing it in the end
On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the difficulty of your course?
I’ll give it
an 8 because it is hard and there is a lot of material to cover in a short
period coupled with the excitement for joining the University.
What are your favourite and worst class?
My favourite class is contract law. It is
exciting and relatable in our everyday life.
And criminal, and I don’t really have the worst
class.
What school of thought are you inclined to?
I subscribe
to the positivist school of thought.
In your opinion, what should good lawyers be like?
I think good Lawyers should be able to listen to the needs of the people they are representing. This should be the primary focus rather than doing what they feel is right.
A good Lawyer should consult.
Their intentions should match the purposes of the person they are representing.
They should be hardworking because the law tasks one to always be reading.
What is your favourite precedent or case law?
My favourite
case law is R v Calhaem
What would be your advice to anyone that wishes to pursue Law?
My advice to anyone that wants to pursue law is that they should be able to read because Law is all about reading and understanding.
So this should be their primary focus, and
they should not just do it for the sake.
Who do you look up to?
The person I look up to is Mr Gerard Karyejja Kagambirwe.
Associate Professor of Public Management and Administration
I look up to him
because he has accomplished so much in a short time.
